The Gift of Nature Walks

Stepping Outside Quiets Our Hearts

Autumn Family Stroll on a Forest Path Covered in Fall Foliage

Children notice things we overlook. On a short walk, a little one might stop to marvel at a ladybug, a dandelion puff, or the way sunlight sparkles through leaves. They see what we rush past. Nature is God’s open-air classroom.

Nature is not just scenery — it’s testimony. Creation itself points us back to the Creator. The birds, trees, and skies remind us daily of His glory — if we slow down long enough to notice.

Jesus used creation to teach about God’s kingdom — lilies in the field, seeds in soil, sparrows in the sky. Every leaf and star is a reminder that all things were made through Him and for Him.

Nature Walks

  • Take a short family walk in your neighborhood or a nearby park.

  • Ask each person to name three things in nature they notice.

  • Optional: snap a photo or jot notes in a “Creation Journal.”

You don’t need a grand vacation to encounter God’s creation — step outside. Let the breeze remind you of His Spirit. Let the sky remind you of His majesty.

Nature walks are a habit of wonder that helps children (and parents) see God’s fingerprints everywhere.

“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” — Romans 1:20
