The Cardinal and Dove Represent Faith and Renewal

The heart of The Cardinal and Dove is simple—to draw people closer to God through Scripture, reflection, and the quiet beauty of His creation. What began as a mission to encourage faith and simple living has also become a deeply personal journey for its founders, Sherri and Paul Faamuli. Together, they share a desire to help others find peace, purpose, and renewed trust in the Lord through everyday moments.

Sherri Stout Faamuli

Sherri is the artist and writer behind The Cardinal and Dove. Best known as the founder and creative heart of Birthday Direct—one of the internet’s first party supply brands launched in 1996—she has spent decades bringing color, joy, and kindness to families through gentle, imaginative artwork.

Over time, her creative path has grown quieter and more intentional. What began as a celebration of happy moments has become a deeper reflection on the Giver of life Himself. The Cardinal and Dove was born from that shift—a desire to listen for God’s voice and share simple, Scripture-rooted reminders of His nearness.

Drawing from the Bible, nature, and a lifelong love of art, Sherri creates words and images meant to bring light, peace, and meaning—inviting others to live, love deeply, and walk closely with God.

The Dove

Pure and gentle, carries the peace of God — the same Spirit that descended at Christ’s baptism and the hope that returned to Noah on olive branches of new beginnings.

The Cardinal

Vivid and unwavering, it reminds us of the life given through the blood of Jesus — a symbol of hope, courage, and steadfast faith.

Together, they speak of grace and peace, of a faith both tender and bold — a quiet reminder that God’s presence is near, renewing hearts with every sunrise.

Paul Faamuli

Paul contributes spiritual guidance and creative ideas to The Cardinal and Dove. A native of American Samoa, he served 20 years in the United States Air Force and more than 30 years in aviation with Alaska Airlines, where his coworkers called him “the preacher” for his readiness to counsel, pray, and share the message of salvation.

A minister of Christ throughout his life, Paul has shared the gospel in Alaskan Native villages, the Philippines, and the Ensenada Province of Mexico. He also loves nature photography and has shared peaceful landscape images with Scripture overlays on social media for many years—simple, powerful reminders of God’s glory in creation.
