Persons of the Bible: Letter F
The letter F includes only a few named individuals in the Bible, yet each reminds us of the world into which the gospel first entered. Felix and Festus represent the governing powers of Rome, men who encountered the message of Christ through Paul’s bold witness. Fortunatus stands as an example of quiet faithfulness, encouraging Paul and supporting the early church. Together, these names reveal the contrast between hardened hearts and humble service—and they point us back to God’s work through ordinary moments in history.

Though brief, the names in the letter F show us that Scripture values every person God weaves into His story—from governors who resisted the truth to believers who strengthened the church. Their lives remind us that the gospel reaches every level of society and that God uses both great and small moments to accomplish His purposes.
As we continue into the letter G, we will meet many more people whose stories deepen our understanding of God’s faithfulness and His redemptive plan through Jesus Christ.
