Declutter Your Home, Declutter Your Heart

Do you own your possessions, or do they own you?

Serene Minimalist Living Room

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” — Matthew 6:21

Have you ever opened a closet door and felt like everything might come crashing down on your head? Boxes stacked high, clothes you haven’t worn in years, shoes with missing pairs — clutter has a way of creeping in.

The truth is, clutter doesn’t just crowd our shelves. It crowds our hearts too. When we live surrounded by “too much,” it becomes increasingly complex to focus on what truly matters.

The 10-Minute Declutter Basket

  • Grab a laundry basket or tote.

  • Set a timer for 10 minutes.

  • Walk through your home, placing anything that doesn’t belong in the basket.

  • Return items to their proper place or store the basket in a designated recovery area so family members can retrieve and correctly put them away.

A quick reset that makes your home feel lighter instantly.

Jesus lived a simple life.

He didn’t have a house filled with things, yet He was the richest man who ever lived — rich in love, joy, peace, and obedience to His Father. When we peel away the layers of “stuff,” we make room for His presence to shine more brightly.

Decluttering is more than tidying up — it’s practicing freedom and creating space for peace.

God calls us to live with open hands. Our possessions are tools, not treasures. When we hold on too tightly to stuff, we lose sight of the eternal. Decluttering isn’t about having a Pinterest-perfect home. It’s about living free from distraction and stress so we can focus on Jesus. Start small — one basket, one drawer, one 10-minute timer
