Standing in Quiet Faithfulness
When Following Costs Something
Have you ever tried to do what’s right, only to find it made things harder instead of easier?
As Jesus sat with the people on the mountainside, He said,
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:10)
Those words are honest.
Jesus doesn’t pretend that following Him will always go smoothly. Sometimes, doing what’s right brings resistance. It can bring misunderstanding. It can even cost you something.
The world doesn’t always recognize faithfulness—especially when it goes against what’s easy or expected. And in those moments, it can feel confusing. You may wonder if you’re doing something wrong, just because it feels hard.
But Jesus says something different.
He calls that life blessed.
Not because the hardship is good—but because God sees it.
To live for what is right isn’t about looking for trouble. It’s about staying steady when it comes. It’s choosing truth, even when it’s not welcomed. It’s doing what’s right, even when no one else notices.
And sometimes, it can feel lonely.
But it is never unseen.
The Father sees every quiet decision. Every moment you choose what is right, even when it costs you. Nothing is lost to Him.
And this is where grace meets us.
Because you are not asked to stand on your own.
Through Jesus, you are given the strength you don’t have to create. The Kingdom of heaven isn’t far away—it belongs to you even now, as you trust Him. What you may lose in the eyes of the world is not lost with God. He holds what cannot be taken away.
This is why the Sermon on the Mount matters so much. It prepares us for a life that isn’t built on approval, but on truth. A life that doesn’t always feel easy—but is deeply steady.
Through Jesus, you are invited to live with quiet courage, trusting that what is right will always be worth it.
There on the hillside, among people who knew hardship and uncertainty, His words would have settled gently into their hearts.
What if the resistance you feel isn’t a sign you’re on the wrong path?
What if it’s a sign you’re walking in what is true?
What if the Kingdom you belong to cannot be shaken, even when everything around you pushes back?
Remain faithful to what is right, even when it costs you.
